The other issue with plein air is outside temperture. It was over 100 degrees last Sunday and the shade trees were not so easy to find. I painted with my friend Kim and it made it easier to stick it out.

Canyon View
I decided to photograph this one again. It had a lot of light reflections. Today is a gray day and I think better for photography. I really can't tell until it is up on my blog. Kim let me know what you think.

Tree Lined Trail oil 10" x 8"
Tried a new place and loved it. This is a walking trail in the middle of a neighborhood and it gets lots of walkers. I liked the people coming by, many with their dogs. I even know a few of them. I am getting much more comfortable painting in public. People are friendly and I often find that it is other artists that stop and look. I was pleased with my painting. It was a nice day. Can't ask for much more.
Canyon View 8" x 10" oil
This was a very hot day a few Saturdays ago. Painted under a tree and it wasn't so bad. I was having trouble with this painting and thought I would not post this ...and then decided it was important that I do. Good, bad or whatever it is where I am on this creative journey. The day and just being out in nature was worth the trip. That is the blessing of plein air painting. The hope, of course, is that a painting will emerge from all that there is to see and that it will tell me something about how I see and how far I have come. The truth is sometimes I side step and even step back.
