I like these very much...these studies. I think doing the quick value studies, like you said with no fuss, is so helpful. Doesn't it remove so much of that pressure to make a 'finished' piece?! Looking at these makes me want to attempt a figure...

These last 2 sketches were very quick without a lot of fuss. Good exercise to work out compositional ideas. Desaturated to look at values.
