Mary Undone 18x12 pastel on wallis

It is "Mary Undone", because it is not finished and I will probably not finish this one.  Not happy where it was going and spent way too much time messing with it.  Time to move on.
Mary is one of the most elegant woman I know and a fine painter.  I just don't think I was doing her justice.  She is also very kind and a pleasure to know.  Yes, she was wearing white while painting with oil.

I think this is a good study. I would sit on it for a while and see if you want to do it again and what you would change the next time around. Sometimes these unfinished ones teach the best lessons.

Wearing white while painting shows for a very confident and skilled painter!

I like it Dori. You've given her a quiet regal look.

At least she has an apron on!! ;o>

I agree with Kim..... This might be your next great painting... I like the way the light from the canvas is reflecting a bit into the shadow over her face to light it up.
I like it!!

Yeah, I found myself saying "Wow" when I opened it. I think it's the glow on her face. Something about the mood. I like Kim's comment. Put it aside, but just for awhile.

I think it's great. You've captured the essence of Mary. Sometimes "less is more".
