Across the Street 4x6 oil

My computer sits in a room with a window that faces out to the front of my house.  Sometimes I feel like I am in another world just watching the comings and goings of neighborhood life.  It is very tranquil to be the observer.  I see the light change and the wind blow and people out walking.
Directly across from my window is a pink stucco house that is the background of all the comings and goings I see out my window.  So I had paint left on my palette and attempted to paint it.  I think i really wanted to just play with the paint before cleaning up.   I had fun laying in thick paint.
The neighbor that lives in this house is in her 70's and lives alone.  She is extremely active in the community and recently wrote a historical book on the history of Villa Park.  I admire her for all she does.

I like the large areas of color and the thickness of this. You have captured the tranquil, peaceful feeling of the neighborhood. Have you shown it to her?

This is wonderful Dori! The great thick strokes are confident and bold...wish I could do that!

I love the thick paint! You have really done a nice job on this one. Next time ... try it with a palette knife!

Dori the paint application here is really amazing, it lends such a sense of dimension, pulling that grass well forward. But also the sense of light is right on.

Dori, I like the loose brush work and the thick paint application. It's really good.
