So I went to the store and bought sunflowers to put in vases around the house with hopes of painting. I must tell you I do this often with complete optimism and watch the flowers die and the water turn smelly and murky and no painting to be seen. This time I just made myself do it and I loved it. I can pull off a sunflower and 4 to boot.
It is all shapes. How many times have I said that and suppressed it like an evil thought. I didn't try to paint every petal and well it hangs together and like I said it is shapes, shapes of color butting up to one another. Anyway I am happy. Nothing like working from life.

It is beautiful. I wish you would put a link to the one painted from the photo just so we could see the improvement!
You are right there is nothing like working from life. This is wonderful Dori...my favorite part being the stems and the vase...well stated, girl!
Very beautiful, Dori!
Another beautiful painting. I especially love the texture of the paint. It's very expressive.
Yup! Ya done good! I love how you keep on trying... hugs!
I *love* this! Makes me want to paint still lifes again. :)
SO true. Dori, your confidence shines in this one, truly, it feels masterful. And, I do that all the time too, buy them, intend to paint them, watch them wilt. ugh!
It's terrific Dori...
Alas, my sunflowers all died so they are out with the smelly water.
I absolutely LOVE yours, though... Like the paint application and everything about it!!
Well.. somehow.. that went as anonymous... It was me that absolutely love it...
Thank you to eveeryone. I love this cyber world and appreciate your input more than you know.
Great job keeping the petals of theses sunflowers simple! I can see how tempting it would be to overwork them. Beautiful painting!
