First Born 12x12 oil

First Born is in it's middle stages. I will probably glaze over this and then work it back up. There are areas that need defining like the ear. It is hard to work on an ear and not make it to hard lined and distracting. The shadowy area on the neck is actually over growth from his beard and needs work. It would be much easier to give him a shave, but then that would not be my son. I am feeling good about where I am on this. It has a strong likeness and catches him in one of his drifting, thought filled glances.
Like the title says, Eliot is my first born. He made me a mom and taught me what that means everyday of my life. He is the oldest of three boys and the most serious in expression. I think he is shy, although I think some would find that hard to believe. We share a love for creativity. Eliot is a fine artist, print designer and film maker. He is presently trying to make his way in this economy living in L.A doing whatever it takes. :)  Hats off to you son!

Your painting of your son is filled with all that you know and love about him. Can't wait to see it completed.

I enjoy seeing paintings in different stages. You are well on your way to a wonderful tribute to your son.

I already like it just as it is. I like his serious expression and the color palette you've used works so well together. Great skin tone, great form. Very nice looking son, by the way!

I may be partial, but I think this is your best portrait of your family members yet. Im excited to see it finished, and everyone else you do!
