Ankle Deep 8x16 oil on canvas board

I remember holding the hands of my kids as we walked through the surf.  They would want to brake away and run into the water.  Sometimes they would, only to be knocked down by a wave and call for me to grab their hand and rescue them.
This painting came together well.  I love this subject, a dad and his kids.  I worked in layers with the far wave in the distance, the boogie boarder, the white water as a back drop to the figures creating atmosphere and space.
Summer is here!

Great title and wonderful painting, Dori.
My kind of painting. Love capturing the little ones in their merriment.

The blues in this are gorgeous! Great job on the waves too. One really gets a sense of the enormous power of the ocean from this painting.

The atmosphere in this one is really well done, with those energetic waves in the background.
