"CHEERIE OH"

8x8, oil on 3/8 panel, sold

Painting from different perspectives is a good way to change things up, especially with still life.  I mean how many fruits and bowls can one paint?  The answer is, LOTS.  It seems there is always something that can change to create a different view.  One of those is perspective.  So why not a plan view.
I have been following Carol Marine for a few years.  She is an artist that unlocked the playfulness of still life for me.  She makes it fun.  If you are not familiar with her work click on the thumbnail in my blog roll on the right.
I can't go without saying thanks to artist friends Dana Cooper and Judy Taylor for a fun painting day yesterday.  Love the energy!

Wonderful textures! I love those shiny edible cherries in contrast with the pottery. I agree, just get a bird eye's viewpoint and there is a new image!

Dori, this is a fabulous view and the colors you are using are really delicious! I like this piece a lot...all the reds are so complex, yet all work together so well.

Oh, I'm jealous of your fun painting day! This bowl goes 'round and 'round - and takes your eyes on a trip! Cool!

Love this composition and the view. I also love the way you have the light focused right down to the bottom of the cup. The yellows and oranges are gorgeous next to the bright red cherries. Love their blue highlights. Great values overall!

A very vibrant and interesting take on this subject. The bowl just gleams, and I feel I can grab that stem and pick the cherry out of the bowl(and pop it in my mouth)
