LOCAL CANYON

6x6, pastel

I am finding it tricky to work 6x6 in pastel, at least for landscapes...  And at the same time it is a really good way to work out compositions in a shorter time and work as a study for a larger painting.  Anytime spent painting is the best way to becoming a better painter.
Landscapes present so many great composition issues.  They are full of shapes connecting to one another.   It is quite the puzzle to put together with a sense of order, atmosphere and flow.  I want to keep the viewer on the path with places to rest and take in the surroundings.  The challenge for me, is creating a world interesting enough to visit, enjoy or inspire.

Well, this is definitely a world interesting enough to visit, enjoy and inspire. I love landscapes and you did a wonderful job on this. Really lovely colors and lots to look at along the pathway. Love it:)
