I love trying things out on the iPad. It is quick and it can confirm my thoughts about a particular idea I may have. Here is a night scene. I tried out some colors and I can see if they are working or not. The value range is tight but there are plenty of contrasts to exaggerate. So now I see if it could be more without much time or materials invested.

Nagra In Oil
Nagra belongs to dear friends of my son. Wes is very fond of this little dog and her owners. I had lots of fun drawing her digitally. The digital sketches I did before attempting her in oil proved to to quite helpful. I was able to get a few sketches done in color in a short period of time to use for the oil. It really took the stress off and allowed me to paint. Changes were small.
Nagra is painted in oil on a 12x9 Raymar canvas panel.

The Introduction
Procreate is an app that has lots of tools and values. I used it to create this sketch of my niece, grandnephew and the newest addition to the family.
Lavendar Fields
Last summer I took a trip to Washington state and Oregon. This lavender field was somewhere near the Columbia River Gorge.
Color sketch done with Pro Sketch. Still studying all the different tool and uses. I am hoping to get a better understanding and uses of layers. I could never get this stuff on Photoshop. So glad that they have created these much more simplified apps. Pretty amazing and fun. Probably most important is it keeps me creating and seeking with a new level of excitement. I am looking forward to getting the information I am learning here to help me bridge some of the gaps that comes when painting directly. Really, it is a plan, a thumbnail and a map to envisioning a finished painting. It also seems to help me break from the photograph. Which has always been a bit of a battle with me. I am sure that is why I love painting from life. I love being in the scene, rather than stuck behind a flat picture plan. This process is leading me somewhere...and I feel it.

Bear
This little Jack Russell was looking on last week while I was visiting my friends puppies. I was struck by the wonderful features this little guy has. I took tons of photos of the pups and mom and little bear just grabbed my creative thoughts today. So maybe a painting at a later date.
I am loving the uses of these apps on my tablet. This one is ArtRage.

Nagra
I got a new iPad mini for Christmas . I can't seem to put it down. Here is a sketch I made using ArtRage. I am trying out different apps. So far I have played with Sketch Pro, IPastel, and ArtRage. I will let you know which one I like best, when I know.
