Balboa Cove

Took a ride down to paint at a friends house today.  It was overcast with a strong light burning through.  This little spot is from my friends back porch out onto the canal.  Houses are packed in on a circular edge of sand with boats and kayaks coming in and out of view.  This is the view of the neighbors and their boat up on shore just a few feet out of the water.  In this view is also large buildings which are across Coast Highway and a bit of sky that falls between.  I wanted to suggest something in the background without putting in every detail.  Working on an 8x8 I must remember not to put in too much.  The contrast between the hustle and bustle of the busy road and the hospital behind them is amazing to me.  It was all out there, but I did not care and just enjoyed the tranquil water.
It was a lovely day to be down there to enjoy the fresh air and the peaceful view.  Thanks Cindy :)

"DREAMY AFTERNOON"

6x8 oil on canvas panel, $85.00 + $10.00 s&h
This painting started from a walk I took through a local park where there are houses that are built right up to it's borders.  The vision is that these houses have land that goes on forever.  The truth is that it is only a dream.

Your Invited

Yes! Finally! For all to see! Oh dear...
For a long time my husband and friends have suggested that I have a home art exhibit with work for sale. I have hemmed and hawed and postponed and and and... There are hundreds of excuses and I am all out. So on Sunday, October 18, from 1:00 to 5:00, my work will be hung throughout my home for exhibit and sale. It will include work seen on this blog of local plein air locations and more. If you live in the area and want to come on by, please do. Stop in and enjoy some refreshments and appetizers as you look at art. Looking forward to visiting with you.
If you have advise on doing such a thing, that would be welcome too.

Hot Morning by the Creek 4x6 oil

I went back to Irvine Regional for another look at the creek.  It was much hotter than last week.  I managed to paint three small canvases.  I think this was the best and the first done.  I will post them in progression.  My husband came along again and walked and read and rested.  I love the sounds in the park.  It was a really great morning.
