"A PEAR OF MANY COLORS"

I am really enjoying playing with color in the creation of these pear paintings.  They are great exercises in fearlessness and a small format to complete in short sessions.  Lots of fun.

Self Portrait 12x12 oil

I think I am done.  There are things I see that might just have to be corrected, but not today.  I loved doing this.  I felt like an ant crawling a long.  It is amazing what color there is in flesh.  I don't believe this photo can show the little marks of color that I found myself making toward the end.  It also doesn't show the do and redo which builds up under the surface.  I am pleased that I did get a likeness for the first time in a long while.  I did the structure work first and built on that frame.  I revisited the steps I learned with Cynthi Grilli.  I am excited and can't wait to start another one.  

I want to continue painting on this 12x12 box format and paint my family and friends and hang them side by side on a wall in my house.  People I love and make the difference in my life.  I am always amazed and grateful everyday for all who touch me with their encouragement, wisdom, creativity and kindness.  Love to all : )

Pears of a Different Color 7x5 acrylic

These are a result of a day of play. I am not much for acrylic paint, but in an attempt to experiment I pulled them out. Dana Cooper came over and gave me a workshop in a day on Robert Burridge. I have been playing ever since. I love the idea of laying down paint quick and seeing the results right away. It is sort of letting the paint tell you what to do next. The best part is it doesn't take long and the return is abundant. I will be posting more and then back to oil.

Breezy Viewpoint 6x8 oil SOLD

Doing the things I love are usually in conflict with the things I need to do. All summer I have been trying to get out and walk as much as I can. I walk in the morning and I love to paint in the morning and I love to hang with my husband and family in the morning too. So I have been making myself get out to walk a little early so that I might get the exercise (a must) and then have time to visit with Bob and have a cup of "joe". The thing that has been the most difficult has been getting my act together to paint in the morning because I didn't want to give up my time with husband and family. I am the best in the morning and the rest of the day is down hill.

So today I walked, had coffee with Bob and then went off to paint with my friend Cindy. I felt complete.

This little painting was done out behind Cindy's house in East Bluff. We were on a beautiful green belt over looking the back bay with a cool breeze. The struggle was the overcast to sun and sun to overcast, so the light does not seem right. I like it anyway. I had fun with being loose and just brushing on the paint and leaving it alone.

So...walk, fam, paint, friend. It was a very good day.

Late Rose

This rose was from my yard. It was a little tattered and ready to be cut and tossed. I just started painting without much thought. I will try again, it was good practice.10" x 8" oil
