Nagra In Oil

Nagra belongs to dear friends of my son. Wes is very fond of this little dog and her owners. I had lots of fun drawing her digitally. The digital sketches I did before attempting her in oil proved to to quite helpful. I was able to get a few sketches done in color in a short period of time to use for the oil. It really took the stress off and allowed me to paint. Changes were small.
Nagra is painted in oil on a 12x9 Raymar canvas panel.

Funny One

Getting this one done was a challenge. I love starting with an under painting of water based pigments. This one had a great beginning and went through lots of transitions. In the process the under painting was lost. I love when the beginning supports the end result. I like when the whole thing flows together. I just had to work harder and reevaluate my process and what sent me off track from my original idea.

Sparky

This little guy just had to go on a 6x6 format. Such a funny little Yorkie with big ears.

Pretty Baby

Pretty Baby is another in my pastel dog series.  I am enjoying my dogs a lot.  Today I thought about a few of the dogs that I have been draw to paint.  I like making them look happy and loving.

Fun Lov'in Guy

I started a series of dog portraits in pastel. This one is 12 x12 on ampersand board. This dog is not your happy go lucky looking guy. So when I saw this expression I just had to paint him.
