Late Rose

This rose was from my yard. It was a little tattered and ready to be cut and tossed. I just started painting without much thought. I will try again, it was good practice.10" x 8" oil

A Grand Idea

A family vacation inspired this pastel of the Grand Canyon. I was wanting to work larger. Large for me is 18" x 24", although this is not quiet that, but close. Problem with working large in pastel is the expense in framing. Pastels can't just sit out without protection, so into the portfolio it went until today. I thought it would be a good idea to share it on my blog. So it is quietly tucked away and can be seen too.

Peter's Canyon

This was painted from a small plein air painting I did while in Peter's Canyon. I liked this tree so much that when I got home I painted it again and this is what I got. It has a different feeling than the original, but I like it just as much.

Plein Air Workshop with Tom Brown

Painted this on location in Acton, California. I was part of a plein air workshop given by Tom Brown.
This was a great place and had lots of interesting buildings and views to paint. I really liked the opportunity to paint stone in shadow and light.
