I painted this from a photo I took while riding my bike (tricky) with my husband and a group of friends. I wanted to keep it loose and painterly and convey the brightness of the light. The focus is on the main bike rider, with the other riders and the architecture being suggested. I enjoyed starting with such clearly organized abstract shapes. It made it very clear to paint the subject and deal with the values.

Really, really nice Dori. You've captured the moment beautifully.
Dori, I think this might be my all time favorite of yours...everything is, well, perfect!
Love the brushwork.
This is fantastic, and just says 'Summer, beautiful Summer!'
Dori, I hadn't seen your blog before. Love this painting.
Wow, I really love all the texture. You've really brought the painting to life!
This is a winner, Dori! Love those thick brushstrokes. They really add to the feeling of movement.
What a great composition...I laughed as I imagined you painting this while riding your bike...and then again when I read that you managed to photo it while riding! :) talented you are!
This one makes me miss Cali! I agree with Gwen, the thick paint application is very nice and adds a great flow.
I love the brushstrokes on this one.
Which part of Cali are you?
I am from Santa Monica.
